In a world of interior design defined by constant change and technological innovation, few players manage to stay at the top and set the trends in the market. Tatiana Popescu, the founder and driving force behind Quadra Casa, is one of those emblematic figures who has transformed a family business into an undisputed leader in premium interior design solutions. With a clear vision, massive investments, and a steady commitment to excellence, Tatiana has brought Quadra Casa to the forefront, making it the first choice for both discerning clients and renowned real estate developers. What does it mean to be at the helm of an empire, to stay at the top in such a dynamic and competitive industry, and what challenges and rewards come with working in this fascinating field? Tatiana Popescu…

1. Quadra Casa is today a benchmark name in the field of interior design, distinguished by excellence — a success driven by your motivation to offer innovative solutions and exceed expectations in a competitive market like Romania’s. What are the principles behind Quadra Casa’s performance?
Tatiana Popescu: I believe that a successful business means a lot of hard work, seriousness, quality, and, of course, a client-oriented approach. There’s a lot to be said, but the core principles of the Quadra Casa brand are excellence and quality, innovation, professionalism, long-term relationships with clients, and, last but not least, sustainability. We aim to stand out in this competitive market, and we believe these principles will help us do so. Moreover, clients always appreciate quality, customization, and professionalism — which is why we place great emphasis on these values.
2. In the context of a competitive market, what does maintaining this high standard involve?
Tatiana Popescu: Maintaining a high standard in a competitive market like interior design, as in our case, requires constant effort and special attention to several key aspects such as continuous innovation, comprehensive services, strategic marketing, and efficient management. These elements cannot function independently of one another. The interior design market is constantly evolving, and to remain relevant, we must always stay up to date with the latest trends, materials, and technologies. We invest in development, take part in industry events, and collaborate with renowned designers and architects to ensure that we meet and exceed the expectations of everyone who walks through our doors.
3. Quadra Casa offers “a complete interior design experience.” What exactly does that involve?
Tatiana Popescu: For me and the Quadra Casa team, a complete interior design experience means a holistic and personalized approach to every project, from the very beginning — the first sketches — all the way to the final touch. A complete experience involves understanding the client’s needs, creating detailed plans, and selecting the right materials and finishes. In the projects we take on, we always consider our client’s lifestyle, aesthetic preferences, and, of course, their budget. We don’t want to limit ourselves to simply selling products — we aim to provide complete design solutions, from concept to completion. And I’m proud to say that we manage to do this at the highest standards.
4. You mentioned the importance of trends in interior design. How do you manage to stay up to date with the latest trends and innovations, and what are the trends for 2024?
Tatiana Popescu: As I mentioned earlier, we always try to stay up to date with market demands, the newest technologies, and emerging trends by attending industry events and continuously researching. It’s a field we’re passionate about, and fortunately, we approach this ongoing learning process with joy and enthusiasm. As for the trends in 2024, we’re seeing a strong focus on natural and sustainable materials combined with varied textures and patterns, as well as modular and multifunctional furniture. 2024 is all about well-being — creating spaces that promote relaxation, productivity, and health, which is something we all strive for every day. I’d also like to add that, despite many people returning to the office after the work-from-home period, there’s still a significant demand for integrated home office spaces — a trend and a need that I believe will remain in the long term.

5. In recent years, Quadra Casa has experienced impressive growth, including the opening of three showrooms. Why this rapid expansion now?
Tatiana Popescu: There are many factors that have contributed to our rapid expansion, including increased market demand, the strong positioning of our brand, and our ambitious growth strategy. The pandemic taught us to pay much more attention to our homes, which naturally led to a rise in demand and greater awareness regarding the materials used — how they are sourced, how eco-friendly they are, and so on. As a result of these changes, brands and businesses that delivered on these expectations have become increasingly sought after and stronger, leading to organic growth. Additionally, the overall standard of living has improved, and with higher purchasing power, people are now more willing to invest in their home design. That’s where we come in — to offer them exactly what they’re looking for.
6. Quadra Casa is also known for its collaborations with renowned real estate developers. What is the foundation of these partnerships?
Tatiana Popescu: Real estate developers will always look for experience, professionalism, the ability to deliver projects on time and within the agreed budget, as well as flexibility and adaptability in their partners. Fortunately, our values and those of the developers we work with often align, and that serves as a calling card for us. Both they and we share the same main objective — meeting our clients’ needs — and this is reflected in the projects we’ve completed and the partnerships we’ve built over time.
7. What are the flagship projects for Quadra Casa — the ones you look back on with pride?
Tatiana Popescu: That’s a very good question! I’m happy to say that we have many projects currently in development and that we’ve had the opportunity to work on some truly spectacular ones. The projects I remember most fondly are Amber Forest, U Center, the Marmorosch Hotel, and Kisseleff Residential — both because of the challenges they presented and the professionals we collaborated with. There are many other projects I think of with great appreciation, as well as future ones I’m excited to see completed, such as BHB and Arqa. When you’re deeply involved in a project, especially a large-scale one, it’s impossible not to love it — particularly in our field, where you have the privilege of watching things come to life. What starts as a sketch on paper becomes an iconic building.
8. What are the most in-demand Quadra Casa services at the moment?
Tatiana Popescu: Over time, I’ve noticed that the most requested Quadra Casa services vary depending on market trends and client preferences. Currently, the most in-demand services are custom-made design and the installation services we provide to our clients. I’d also like to mention that we handle the installation of ventilated facades — a modern and efficient solution for exterior building finishes, offering numerous advantages such as increased energy efficiency, prevention of condensation, resistance to fire, impact, and dirt, as well as protection against weather conditions. Clients are becoming increasingly attentive to these aspects.

9. The expansion of your product portfolio, the development of personalized services, and continuous innovation have always been priorities for Quadra Casa. Can you share a few examples that have had a significant impact on the Romanian market?
Tatiana Popescu: I would say exotic wood flooring, large-format ceramic tiles, and smart lighting systems. I believe the development of the “smart home” concept has been one of the most appreciated innovations because, in a smart and energy-efficient home, we simply feel better. Everything is more accessible and faster — we all want our lives to be simpler, and this helps achieve that. Another aspect that I think has had a significant impact is the promotion of sustainability, as we’ve made sure to integrate eco-friendly materials and solutions into our projects, contributing to greater awareness of the importance of sustainability in construction.
10. How much have clients’ needs diversified over the past 10 years, and what does it mean today to meet the expectations of a sophisticated clientele?
Tatiana Popescu: Over the past decade, clients’ needs and preferences have changed significantly, and these shifts have pushed us — entrepreneurs everywhere — to adapt quickly and offer increasingly innovative solutions. Today’s client, unlike one from ten years ago, is no longer just looking for a product or a service; they’re looking for an experience. They no longer just want to buy parquet flooring — they want to know how it was made, what its environmental impact was, and whether it can be reused. As I mentioned earlier, integrated technology is now a must-have — something that didn’t even exist as a demand ten years ago. More and more clients want automated homes with smart lighting and temperature control systems. Today’s client wants a complete experience — from design to execution to post-sale services and support. And if, as a brand, you manage to deliver all these elements, the client will return to you, and your retention rate will naturally increase.
11. What do cutting-edge technologies mean when we talk about interior design?
Tatiana Popescu: It depends on the perspective. From the point of view of the service provider, we can talk about virtual and augmented reality. From the client’s perspective, technology in interior design means home automation, 3D printing, sensors, and mobile applications. Cutting-edge technology in interior design refers to smart systems that control lighting, heating, and security. 3D printing technology allows the creation of unique design objects with complex shapes and fine details, while sensors installed in the home can collect data on how the space is used, helping optimize functionality and comfort.
12. To what extent is home automation now a must-have, and what potential do you see in the development of the revolutionary Hypertouch technology for creating multisensory experiences?
Tatiana Popescu: As I mentioned earlier, home automation started as a trend, but lately it has become more of a necessity dictated by the modern lifestyle we live. This includes smart lighting systems, smart thermostats, security systems, and voice assistants — all of which have become must-haves because they create safety, comfort, and a sense of modernity. The Hypertouch technology, which I’m pleased to mention, opens new perspectives in human-machine interaction. In interior design, it can be found in interactive walls and customized touch-sensitive surfaces. Each element of a space can be adapted to individual preferences, and naturally, our interaction with technology becomes more enjoyable and seamlessly integrated into everyday life.

13. That feeling of “being at home, in the truest sense of the word” — does it remain your biggest challenge, or are there other challenges you’re currently facing?
Tatiana Popescu: That’s an excellent question and one that really brings us to the core of our company’s philosophy. Indeed, the feeling of “home” has always been — and remains — a cornerstone of our approach, because we want every project to be more than just an interior design job; we want it to be a space that reflects the personality and unique needs of each client. However, as the world changes, so do our challenges.
14. What has been the biggest obstacle you’ve encountered in your career, and how did you manage to overcome it?
Tatiana Popescu: In the world of luxury interior design, the market is extremely competitive and dynamic. As an entrepreneur in this field, I’d say one of the biggest obstacles I’ve faced is maintaining a constant level of innovation and exclusivity — because it’s not a challenge you encounter just once; it’s always there. It’s an ongoing challenge. Why? Because clients in the premium segment expect unique products and solutions that offer them an edge in terms of style and refinement. The market is saturated with brands offering high-quality products, and to stand out, we must always bring something new and innovative. Interior design trends change rapidly, and what is considered luxury today might be outdated tomorrow. It’s a constant effort and daily work, but with professionalism and dedication, I believe we’ll continue to stay where we are — and even reach higher.
15. How do you find balance between your personal and professional life, considering that both demand so much of your time?
Tatiana Popescu: I think this is the question we all reflect on when talking about entrepreneurs, and the most common answer — in the best-case scenarios — is that when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. Still, finding balance between professional and personal life is a constant challenge, especially in such a dynamic and demanding field as luxury interior design. I try, as much as possible, to set clear boundaries — defined working hours, a dedicated workspace, and time to disconnect from work. One very important thing that entrepreneurs often forget is delegation. We need to encourage autonomy and initiative. And just as importantly, whether you’re an entrepreneur or not, you have to make time for relaxing activities, enough sleep, and vacations that allow you to truly disconnect. I don’t always manage everything I plan, but I’m on the right path.
16. What values guide you in your everyday life — both in business and on a personal level?
Tatiana Popescu: Fortunately, the values that guide me in everyday life — both in business and personally — are interconnected. Ethics and transparency are, I believe, the most important, because I like to build relationships based on trust, honesty, and openness. I would also add continuous improvement, which is essential, because I believe that feedback always helps — it allows you to grow and refine yourself, both personally and professionally.
17. Have you had a mentor or role model who inspired you throughout your professional journey?
Tatiana Popescu: In any field — especially one as creative and dynamic as interior design — mentors make all the difference. Indeed, I’ve had an extraordinary mentor in my husband. His more than 20 years of experience have been a true treasure for me. I’ve always admired the way he approaches everything with passion and dedication, and I’m grateful to have had — and still have — him by my side on this beautiful journey. My daughter, Anastasia, has also quickly become a trusted partner and a true inspiration for me. With her creative mind and fresh vision, she has brought new energy to our company, particularly in the marketing and residential sectors. Together, we form a strong and complementary team.
18. How do you handle moments of doubt, crises, or failures? What is your strategy for getting back up and moving forward?
Tatiana Popescu: Even though I’ve built a successful brand, moments of doubt or even small crises are part of the journey. However, I’ve developed a strategy that helps me overcome these moments calmly and come back stronger. The first step is to acknowledge that I’m facing a challenge. I don’t try to deny it or minimize it. I accept it as an integral part of the learning and growth process. I stay calm, identify the source of the problem, look for solutions, and adapt my strategy so that I can face any challenge effectively.
19. How do you relax after a long and demanding day? What activities help you recharge your energy?
Tatiana Popescu: I think what I enjoy most is spending time with my loved ones, as it relaxes me and fills me with positive energy. After a long and exhausting day, I like to read, and I also try to exercise whenever possible, because physical activity helps both the body and mind. It’s the best way to disconnect after a long day.
20. How would you define your personal style? What does femininity mean to you outside of your professional sphere?
Tatiana Popescu: Since I work in such a visual and creative field, I consider my personal style to be an extension of my personality and the brand I represent. It is elegant yet comfortable, reflecting both my creative side and professionalism. As for femininity, for me it means more than physical appearance. It is an attitude, an energy, and a connection with oneself. It means confidence in myself.
21. What does happiness mean to you, and how do you cultivate it in your daily life?
Tatiana Popescu: For me, happiness means a harmonious combination of professional fulfillment, relationships with loved ones, health, and overall well-being. I try to train myself to find joy in the small things every day — a good cup of coffee, a smile someone gives you, gratitude, anything. Somehow, these little things help you have a good day and overcome difficult moments. I believe that we create our own happiness, and it largely depends on how we relate to everything around us.
22. How do you maintain your creativity and innovation in an industry that is constantly evolving?
Tatiana Popescu: The interior design industry is constantly evolving, and to remain relevant and offer clients unique experiences, it’s important to continually nurture creativity. I rely heavily on travel and exploration, collaboration with other creative professionals such as architects and interior designers, research, and attending industry events. Of all these, I believe travel helps the most, as encountering different cultures inspires me and provides a fresh perspective on design.

23. What is the greatest lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
Tatiana Popescu: After years of experience in the world of interior design, I’ve learned many valuable lessons, but the greatest one is that success in such a creative and competitive field as interior design is not just about artistic talent and technical knowledge. It requires a combination of passion and vision, flexibility, relationship-building, attention to detail, and strategic thinking. I love what I do, and I have a clear vision for my brand and the values it represents. I also strive to convey this to both my colleagues and clients, so they feel connected to the brand.
24. What are your future plans for Quadra Casa?
Tatiana Popescu: I’ve always had a long-term vision for the brand, and I’m happy to share some of our plans. We aim to expand our product range by including new collections of textiles and home accessories, all in the same refined and elegant style that defines us. We will continue to invest in innovative technologies that allow us to offer clients a personalized and interactive shopping experience. We aspire to become a leading brand in sustainable interior design, using natural and eco-friendly materials and implementing responsible production practices. We will continue to collaborate with talented artists and designers to create unique collections and inspire each other, while focusing on integrating smart technologies into interior design.

25. Finally, what advice would you give to those who want to design their home according to the latest trends, while still keeping it timeless?
Tatiana Popescu: Decorating your home according to annual trends is often a trap, as they change quickly, and what is trendy today may be outdated tomorrow. I believe that in interior design, it’s always important to invest in high-quality furniture, choose a neutral color palette, incorporate natural elements, focus on statement pieces, and create balance. Lighting is also very important, so select a variety of light sources — both natural and artificial — to create a pleasant and versatile ambiance. And finally, create a space where you truly feel “at home”!
